About Doug macginnitie
The State Revenue Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Revenue since January, 2011, Doug MacGinnitie placed his initial focus on improving customer service while reducing a backlog of work. Charged with managing collections of the state’s $20 billion in revenues as chief tax collector, Doug MacGinnitie implemented business strategies that lowered telephone call response times to less than five minutes. This action resulted in a significant decrease from the previous average call wait time of over 20 minutes, allowing faster processing of appeals, amendments, and other actions needed to finalize tax bills to the satisfaction of both the department and the taxpayer. Anti-fraud measures he introduced have saved more than $20 million in potentially lost revenue. In addition, Doug MacGinnitie implemented operating reductions and incentives to encourage efficiency, bringing considerable savings to the department.
